Kelp Powder (Ascophyllum nodosum)
Kelp powder has similar elements as the meal, but in a concentrated form. The finer grind, added to water, makes for more even dispersion and faster assimilation onto soils. Best used as a foliar spray or irrigation application.
Application
- Ornamental Trees and Shrubs: 3Tsp. per gallon of water-1st: at bud
formation, 2nd: 2 wks. later, 3rd: 14-21 days later
- House Plants: 1.5Tsp. per gallon of water-1st: at
emergence of transplant, 2nd: every 2 wks., 3rd: once per mo. at dormancy
- Lawns: 3Tsp. per gallon of water per 100 sq. ft.. Start foliar application at initial growth stage and continue at 3-4 wk. intervals. Make additional applications after periods of stress
or heavy use, or to newly applied sod, and as late season spray to help
improve resistance to kill and frost damage.
- Fruits and Vegetables: Beginning at pre-bloom, 1/2 oz. per
gallon per 100 ft. of row (12 oz. per acre). Repeat every 3-4 wks.
throughout growing season. With blueberries, add one additional
treatment 2-3 weeks after harvest.
